The scoop

QB - Ryan Fitzpatrick The guys gets little or no respect, but the fact is his he is a consistent, solid performer who warrants a spot on fantasy rosters. Fitzpatrick hit the ground running in Week 1, with four touchdowns in a dismantling of Kansas City. He deserves some attention.

QB - Cam Newton Now I am taking week one with a grain of salt. But hey I like salt. If we were looking at 230 yards, I'd be mildly impressed. But he totaled 422 yards and three total touchdowns. He was smart, accurate, and played an all around solid game. He's likely gone in most keeper or dyanasty formats, but in the event he is around and you have a spare roster spot, a solid gamble.

QB - Mark Sanchez Despite the GQ spread, he's not a glamorous pick in regards to fantasy football. That said, he may be changing that. If you consider Santonio Holmes, Derrick Mason, Dustin Keller and Plaxico Burress, he has some super solid downfield options and that could move him up a few spots regarding fantasy consideration.

QB - Matt Hasselbeck You could do worse as far as a quality backup. Safe to say he's building a nice rapport with his wide receiver Kenny Britt. Once Chris Johnson gets going, the playaction could be downright sick.

QB - Rex Grossman I mention him because I look at my backup. Yep, it's Donovan McNabb. Would I rather have Grossman or any of the folks listed above over McNada? I am thinking yes. Grossman has a solid runningback and decent options at both receiver and tight end. I'm not completely sold, but he certainly came out of the gates strong - but remember, the Giants defense has been ravaged with injuries. Something to consider, so tread lightly.

RB Darren Sproles Safe to say, the little guy has mad jets. Bear in mind he is a situational player for sure, but he makes the most of his touches and gets a fair amount of them. He was more than happy to come to New Orleans and used in a Bush-like fashion, but with better results in my opinion. And oh yeah, it's only a matter of time he busts one of those returns for six.

RB Deji Karim With R Jennings down, he's MJD's new handcuff.. for now. Karim is purely an insurance policy, but if you have Jones-Drew, a smart one to possess.

RB Chester Taylor Beanie says he has a chip on his shoulder.. It's only a matter of time the aforementioned chips falls and he trips over it, resulting in a high ankle sprain. Enter the veteran Taylor. If you have Wells, do yourself a favor and grab Taylor. He wasn't active in week one, so he'll likely fly under the radar in your league.

RB – Cadillac Williams Caddy looked pretty solid in relief of Steven Jackson. If you have Jackson, a no-brainer - if you don't, he could be decent trade bait to the guy who does! You just can't dismiss 140 combined yards - keep an eye on Jackson's status. Quads can be tricky early word is he’ll miss the Rams week 2 matchup against the Giants.

WR - Devery Henderson / Robert Meacham With Colston out for the foreseeable future with the broken collarbone, both of these guys become more fantasy relevant in an offense that will put up points. Expect both to be solid performers while Colston is on the mend. Heck, with Colston IN, they managed over 70 yards receiving and a touchdown each.

WR - Steve Smith A late pick in most drafts, and ignored in some, as most feared his disappearance with the rookie signal caller. Well, disappear he didn't as he hooked up early and often with his young quarterback on his way to a 178 yard two touchdown performance. If by some chance he is available, I don't have to tell you twice. Like his QB, his performances could be a bit inconsistent, but it's certainly worth it with that kind of upside.

WR Randall Cobb You saw it this past Thursday, Cobb is speedy and explosive - he's definitely getting attention from Rodgers and the guys drawing up the plays. Next week, who knows, but that's the way to goes right? If you are in a keeper or dynasty format, definitely worth a look. Ok, I'll say it - TEX!!!  (if you don't know what I mean.. I'm old, so nevermind)

WR - Brandon Gibson With Danny Amendola exiting late against the Eagles with the dislocated elbow **OUCH**, I like Gibson to make some noise for the Rams. He is a big target with good hands and speed in an offense that will be putting the ball in the air.

WR - Early Doucet Sure, take away his 70 yard touchdown and he only had 2 receptions for 35 yards. But, with Fitzgerald getting the lions share of attention, and Doucet's ability to get downfield in a hurry, I like him to be a sneaky sleeper every week - until he shakes that moniker and just becomes a solid option, period.

TE - Scott Chandler Who? Exactly. Tight ends are the proverbial crapshoot, but it looks like he is finding his place in the offense, and his quaterback Fitzpatrick is finding him! He was targeted 5 times Sunday, grabbing them all, and making two of them count for touchdowns.

TE - Ed Dickson One of my sleeper picks at the position this season, Dickson made me proud with 5 receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown. With Todd Heap now in Arizona, look for more of this from the talented Dickson. Pssst.. I like him better than Chandler.

TE - Jermaine Gresham Regardless of who is behind center (and now that could be a big who) Gresham will get looks, receptions and his fair share of touchdowns. Talent seems to make good things happy in less than stellar conditions.

TE Leonard Pope I wouldn't expect the Chiefs to be as futile as we saw in week one. His numbers weren't awe-inspiring, but I like him to make some noise as the season progresses, especially with Tony Moeaki out for the season.
