2011 Game by Game #8

Game By Game: Week 8

By Ryan Schoon

Well I'm pretty screwed in my big money league thanks to Chris Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald sucking all season long and injuries have been brutal this year too....hope your season is going way better than mine!  Let's get to the games and see what's in store for week #8!

IND at TEN | NO at STL | MIA at NYG | MIN at CAR | ARI at BAL | JAX at HOU | WAS at BUF | DET at DEN
NE at PIT | CLE at SF | CIN at SEA | DAL at PHI | SD at KC |

BYE:  Atlanta, Chicago, Green Bay, Oakland, NY Jets, Tampa Bay

RB Delone Carter   65 25 1 15 RB Chris Johnson   100 50 1 21
RB Donald Brown   40 0 0 4 RB Javon Ringer   45 0 0 4
WR Reggie Wayne     45 0 4 WR Nate Washington     75 1 13
WR Pierre Garcon     65 1 12 WR Damian Williams     50 0 5
WR Austin Collie     10 0 1 WR Lavelle Hawkins     25 0 2
TE Dallas Clark     65 0 6 TE Jared Cook     50 1 11
K Adam Vinatieri         5 K Rob Bironas         6
D           1 D           6

Summary:  The Colts suck bad and the Titans are coming off a nasty loss...I like the Titans to move the ball all over the Colts D and if Chris Johnson was going to have a breakout game THIS IS IT!  If he doesn't rip the Colts then I'm giving up on him for the rest of the year.  I like Hasselbeck to hit Washington deep and Jared Cook for a redzone TD.

Summary:  Saints put up huge points last week....don't expect that but you can expect lots of good fantasy scoring still.  RB Mark Ingram has a bruised heel and his status is up in the air.  If they hold him out it's Thomas and Sproles....Sproles is already a must start but Pierre becomes an option this week for you as well.  I'm hoping Bradford is back and the Rams put up some points with Lloyd and Alexander.  Saints win but it might be closer than you think.

Summary:  The NY G-Men coming off bye and hosting the Dolphins....this is a no-brainer right?  One would think so.  Eli and the G-Men should have their way with the lowly Dolphins.  I like Bradshaw to have a solid game and Eli to hit Nicks and Manningham for scores.  I don't like much from Miami at all.  They'll struggle against the Giants on the Road.

D           5 D           6

Summary:  Rookie vs. Rookie!  I love it!  The Edge in that battle goes to Cam for sure....the running game tips to the Vikings and AP, but the receivers are all the Panthers.  I like Carolina to win this with Cam to Steve Smith and Cam running the ball.  I'm sure DWill and Stewart (one of them) will chip in a TD run.  Ponder to Jenkins isn't horrible and should yield a TD score but they Vikings will come up a bit shy on the score board.

D           2 D           6

Summary:  Beanie is out what looks to be at least 2 weeks.  Look for Stephens-Howling to fill in.  The Cardinals just really suck and they should be looking to sign another WR opposite LFitz to open this offense up and give Kolb another weapon...if they don't it's suck city the rest of the year.  Flacco and the Ravens on the other hand should carve this Cardinals team up, especially Ray Rice.  Baltimore wins big.

Summary:   Houston showed me a lot last week....or should I say Arian Foster?  Foster is just a stud and there really is nothing else to add to that.  I'll update Game by Game later in the week with Andre Johnson's status....fingers crossed that he's a go!  I like Houston at home to win this game.  The Jags D is a bit underrated in my opinion and may hold this game closer than you might think.

Summary:  The Redskins are in trouble....Hightower has a torn ACL and is lost for the season and Santana Moss broke his hand and is out 5-7 weeks after having 3 pins inserted in his finger.  Beck has Davis, and Jabar Gaffney with a "maybe" on Cooley.  I like the Bills coming off bye with a home game to pull this out.  Fitzpatrick to Johnson and Roosevelt with a nice game from Fred Jackson.  CJ Spiller will stay at WR another week or two so take that for what it's worth.

D           7 D           3

Summary:  Denver lost Willis McGahee to a broken hand and Detroit might be without Matthew Stafford who has knee and ankle injuries.  I still like the Lions to win this game on the back of the D-Line and that fact that Tebow really does suck!  I'm sorry...I know all you Denver fans think he's the second coming of Christ but the fact is he flat out SUCKED against the worst team in the league...doesn't get any more clear than that.  Lions win on the road and snap the 2 game skid.  **Lions update on Stafford is "Day to Day".  Shaun Hill would start if Stafford can't go.

K Stephen Gostkowski         7 K Shaun Suisham         9
D           6 D           4

Summary:   Game of the week right here!  Brady coming off bye is usually dangerous but they have to travel to Pittsbugh.  The Steelers on D are NOT what they used to be and that secondary can be scored on.... but I can turn around and say the same about the Pats secondary so who wins?  I think this might come down to who has the ball last....and if it's Brady we all know what will happen.  Pats will pull this out but just by the skin of their teeth.

Summary:  I sure hope Hillis is back this week....if not I'm pretty screwed!  hahaahahaha!  Okay, so Niners are coming off bye with a home game, hmm...I really like the 49ers to win this game and Gore to go off yet again.  Cleveland can't move the ball and they need to wait on some talent to develop (Little) and get used to the NFL game.  Until then it's more losing for the Browns.

Summary:  This should be a straight up ass kickin!  I like the Bengals because of Dalton.  Cedric Benson will be suspended for this game so it's all on Bernard Scott.  If you need a sleeper RB, he's your guy.  I love the way Andy Dalton is playing right now and I love that he goes to AJ Green and Jermaine Gresham a lot.  I like the Bengals to win by at least a touchdown.

Summary:   2nd game of the week!  This one comes in a very close 2nd to the Pitt game and It'll be interesting to see how the Eagles are coming off their bye week after the sloppy games they've played the first 7 weeks of the season.  I LOVE that Dallas found a running game with DeMarco Murray....he's going to be special for a while in Dallas and he'll take some pressure off of Romo.  I actually like Dallas to win this game.  The Philly D in the middle is soft and can be run on.  That spells a big game for Murray and a balanced attack for the Cowboys.  Not sure why they didn't run Murray sooner?

Summary:  Kansas City is tough at home....the Chargers are coming off a tough game in New York that they probably should have won.  I think KC will lose at home just becasue they're having a tough time running the ball.  The Chargers need Rivers to stop throwing INT's and they'll be tough to beat the rest of the year but that's easier said than done.  I still think Rivers is an elite QB and will get the job done with VJack and Gates this week.
