2011 Game by Game #9

Game By Game: Week 9

By Ryan Schoon

Here we are....week 9 and I'm pretty much out of the playoffs already.  Special shout out to Drew Brees for not showing up last week.  Honorable mention to Chris Johnson and LFitz for not showing up all season long.  Now CJ is in a share with Ringer.  You think CJ is just taking the year off because he got paid all that money?  Like he's arrived, he's a multi-millionaire and that was his goal?  Remember back when Shaun Alexander got paid and then rode off into the sunset with his millions?  Yeah...like that.

Summary:  I like the Bills, especially if they run Fred Jackson.  I also like the Bills defense to pick Sanchez and shut down Greene.  It'll be a tight game all the way with good fantasy scoring from Keller and Holmes for the Jets and Jackson for the Bills.  (I only like Fitzpatrick for one TD pass as the Bill shouldn't be passing a whole lot on the Jets D).

Summary:  Cowboys at home is a no-brainer.  Plus Seattle isn't very good....just sayin.  Now, the Cowboys really need to run Murray and if that's not clear after the Philly game then the Cowboys will never get it.  Murray had just 8 carries for 76 yards and the longest run was 24.  Romo will toss 2 scores but I like Murray for a big game.

Summary:  Miami on the road at Kansas City....yeah, not liking their chances.  This stadium is one of the hardest venues to play.  The Chiefs are winners of their last 4 and I like them to win this game.  Bowe is taken a little backseat here to Baldwin.  I'm sure Baldwin will be one of the most added players this week.  Pope and Baldwin for scores and  Battle is coming on and answering that call to run the ball.

Summary:  The Niners are playing solid D and Alex Smith is just getting the job done...his best move is to turn and hand the ball to Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter.  The Niners will win this on the road even after the long trip because the Redskins are just that bad.  No running game and the only real target for Beck is Fred Davis.

Summary:   The Browns are all banged up.  Massaquoi and Hillis missed last week and Hardesty was injured in Sundays game and will miss several games with a torn calf muscle.  If Hillis can't go they're down to RB Chris Ogbonnaya....WHO???  This should be one of the easier wins for the Texans and I wouldn't expect Andre Johnson back this week because of that.  Foster and Schaub will get the job done.

Summary:  Take Brees out of the Saints Dome and he's average....but at home, he's Superman.  Guess where the Saints are this week?  Yep....at home.  The Bucs will put up a fight but I wouldn't be against Brees and the Saints at home coming off that loss to the Rams.  (Sproles TD is receiving)

Summary:  This should be an interesting game.  Tebow vs. Palmer.  I highly doubt Tebow will be any good but I could say the same about Palmer.  This game could be just as ugly as it gets.  Can you imagine the possible turnovers in this game?  I like the Raiders at home even if McFadden sits....but if he plays I like them that much more.  Right now I'm considering McFadden out.

Summary:   Folks, the Bengals are for real.  Good defense and Andy Dalton is playing pretty damn good for a rookie.  I said in my Monday write up I like him for Rookie of the year....and many of you were saying "CAM" well I disagree!  The Bengals are a playoff team with a Rookie QB....how many wins does Cam have?  Cedric Benson is back this week (thank god) Scott wasn't bad but he's not Ced Benson.  The Titans have demoted Chris Johnson to a "Share" with Ringer.  The hot hand will play....you know what that means right?  Ringer will be the man!  Chris Johnson hasn't had a hot hand since the 2010 football season.  I like the Bengals.

Summary:  Tough game for the G-Men on the road against Brady and the Pats.  I think the Steeler game will serve as a wake-up call to the Pats and Brady will just crush this Giants secondary.  It's weak and Matt Moore had a decent day against them.  I like Brady and the Pats at home.

Summary:  Kolb is in a walking boot with turf toe and I think Bradford will be back for this game.  Steven Jackson can't be stopped in the running game or passing game.  I like Beanie for a decent game though as well.  I think it comes down to QB play and I like Bradford better than Kolb at this point.  The Rams win on the running game too with SJax.  So I guess it comes down to QB and RB play.  Either way I like the Rams.

Summary:   Packers have had 2 weeks to prepare for this game and really, Rivers hasn't been at the top of his game while Rodgers continues to just crush teams with his arm and accuracy.  I like the Packers but watch that secondary....if Rivers gets hot he can do some damage.   (Mathews groin is hurt and Tolbert wasn't able to play Monday night.  Curtis Brinkley came in and played well).

Summary:  Normally I'd be excited about this game but after the last two games for the Ravens and how poorly they've played I just can't get there.  Steelers should be able to win this at home and keep right on rolling.  The only thing to watch out for is a let down game after the big win against the Pats last week but Flacco is so all over the place I like him to toss a couple picks so that probably won't happen.  (RUN RAY RICE INTO THE GROUND ALREADY!!!!!)

Summary:  Philly is BACK my friends!  The Dream team is alive and kicking!  The Bears don't really stand much of a chance if that Philly D plays like they did against the Cowboys because that Bears O-line still sucks.  Look for Vick to run and pass and LeSean McCoy to keep his stellar play up.  Eagles all night long.
